Farmers, carpenters & loggers
Samuel Plummer’s New Year’s Eve missive was personal: “I am thankful, thankful thankful for such a prosperous year, I am happy, happy, happy that from all debt we are clear.”The nature of farming was such that he would not be out of debt for very long so while his teacher’s salary paid for family expenses it was not enough to pay the rent on additional land or the tools he needed to continue farming.

Memorial Days
Our yearly calendars are rushing toward the last Monday in May, some 75 years after the D-Day invasion at the beaches of Normandy.

Seasons’ Starts
Calendars announced general fishing season opener, competing with Mothers’ Day again this year; however, both events enjoyed fine weather but with hints of Canadian wildfire smoke.
Mind lost and found
I went into a Manhattan ER last Saturday out of concern about incidental memory loss (name of primary physician, for one, name of building I live in, a vagueness about the previous two weeks) and if you need an ER, Manhattan is the place to be.

Overheating, smoke?
Question: While traveling I see a lot of vehicles pulled over on the side of the road with either steam or smoke coming from the vehicle.
