A driveway from Mal Bay Road to Big Bass Lake displays historic signage announcing “Est. 1979”, “Idaho Avenue” and family name routed onto Moose horn found near Babine River’s “Rainbow Alley”, British Columbia. “Idaho Avenue” street sign, scavenged by young truant son decades ago far from Highway #2, reflects some 35 years of fulltime Idaho residence with longer family ties to our Northland here since the early ‘50’s.
It’s a Sunday morning in late May and a local driveway sloping down to the road is cluttered with bikes, furniture, and some professional looking musical equipment, all shining in the mid-morning sun. It’s so crowded with gear that the sign “Garage Sale” is partially hidden in the mix and not that visible. But it is easy to decipher the scene, even on a quick drive by and on notic-ing there are no customers milling around or cars parked haphazardly on the sides of the road.
Summer in Minnesota brings sunshine and excitement with campgrounds and cabins opening and families heading out on vacation. All of the campers, trailers, and extra vehicle traffic makes Memorial Day to Labor Day a deadly time for traffic fatalities each year on Minnesota roads. Unfortunately this time frame is also dangerous for your young drivers as college and high school end and they’re driving more often during the summer. That’s why the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Office of Traffic Safety is reminding all Minnesotans to drive safely.

Chapter 13 Floyd thought that his brother Orrah was the best under-the-ice beaver trapper he ever saw. He could make sets and seemingly knew exactly where the beaver would put its foot and could get a beaver to go right into it.
Ask Amy: Granddad’s rough-housing leads to tears Dear Amy: Recently my children and I were with my in-laws (their grandparents) at a crowded event where I relied on my father inlaw to supervise my son (age 4) while I was with my toddler daughter. My father in-law tries to connect with my son by “being silly,” which for him means nose pinching, tickling, tug-of-war while holding hands, and general rough-housing and clownish behavior.
If you wander outside one day with your morning coffee and are greeted by the forlorn mews of an abandoned cat or kittens, you might be tempted to hope they will just “go away.” However, ignoring them will only make the situation worse. A dumped pregnant cat may shortly have kittens beneath your porch.
Question: We were driving down the interstate the other day and I was passed by a vehicle and I noticed the front passenger had their feet up on the front dash. This was a newer vehicle so I know there are air bags and this got me wondering if this was legal.
