The winner of the North American Sturgeon Championship 2024 was Michael Thompson, from Coon Rapids, with a 56-inch sturgeon.His grandparents, Bob and Fern Thompson, lived right by the Nelson Park when he was a little lad so he knows the river well.It was just a fantastic day to be in Birchdale to fish; the weather was cooperating with being 80 degrees and a light breeze.

Borderland experienced dramatic temperature changes this past week as we saw highs in the low 60s and lows overnight in the low 50s.The surface water temperature in the bay where I fish went from 78 degrees down to 65 degrees.
