A plan to preserve for public use about 300 acres of now private land got support from the Koochiching County Board last month.Craig Halla, north region director of Molpus Woodlands Group, which owns the property, asked the board to support the potential sale of the property about 6 miles east of Birchdale to the state of Minnesota.Halla was joined at the March 26 board meeting by Joe Duggan, who owns a cabin on Rainy Lake, lives in Bloomington, and worked for Pheasants Forever for about 30 years.Halla said the plan is in the early stages, and would required many steps before completion.
