Reservations for Voyageurs National Park ranger-led boat tours and North Canoe Voyage open at 9 a.m. April 15 for the 2023 season.
Several forest roads in the Pine Island, Kabetogama and Koochiching state forests are temporarily closed and other roads may soon be closed by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources as the spring thaw impacts road conditions.
Members and supporters of Voyageurs Country ATV Club, working to connect existing trails in St. Louis and Lake counties north to Ray, Ericsburg, Littlefork, and International Falls, are encouraged to take part in a Voyageurs National Park planning process.
To align park activities with established regulations and policies, while accommodating traditional access and activities to the extent feasible, the National Park Service is seeking input as it develops a Frozen Lake Surface Access and Use Plan at Voyageurs National Park. The public comment period for this process will be open through May 3.
The National Weather Service in Duluth will offer free Skywarn Spotter Training Classes across the northland this spring. Skywarn is a cooperative effort between the NWS, local emergency management, and private citizens who volunteer their time to attend free classes and send their weather reports to the NWS.

Six-time International Falls Bass Champion winner Canadian pro Jeff “Gussy” Gustafson Sunday won the 2023 Bassmaster Classic on the Tennessee River. He’s the first Canadian to win the Classic, and takes home the Ray Scott Trophy and a $300,000 first-place check, said a news release from the tournament.
