Monday CO Darrin Kittelson (International Falls #1) reports the fresh dumping of snow was welcomed by snowmobilers, but the cold weather was not. Ice anglers on Sand Bay of Rainy Lake continue to have some success, but the cold weather has also damped their success. Time was also spent on equipment issues and fur registration, along with investigating a possible birch pole theft.

Venus takes the stage

In February Venus climbs above the sunset horizon and settles into its latest reign as an “evening star.” But the sun is also climbing, so we have to go out later each night to see our sister planet against a dark sky.

Snowshoe hike

Voyageurs National Park will offer a self-guided night snowshoe hike Friday, along the Oberholtzer Trail, with luminaries to light the way. The event will be open between 6 and 7:30 p.m.

ATV club:Trail expansion

Voyageur Country ATV club members and the club’s engineering firm SEH met with Department of Natural Resources officials to discuss the Arrowhead Trail, the club’s November minutes show. The club just met last week in Orr, where the minutes were reviewed.
