This year’s beautiful summer with regular rain has been good for my garden. Plants are healthy and growing well, though some of the heat-loving plants have wished for warmer nights. The past week’s warm temperatures really gave the tomatoes and squash a boost.
The Bronco Bass Fishing Team got on the water Sunday for the first time in more than two months to compete on Rainy Lake. There were some great bags of fish as three teams went over 19 pounds for their five bass and the difference between the top two teams was less than one ounce.

The following are closure status updates, as of Friday, July 15, from Voyageurs National Park: The Namakan District maintenance staff was able to repair the Locator Lake Trail this week, allowing the current closure in this area of the park to expire and be opened back up for use as of Saturday, July 16. This includes the Locator Trail and all four of the Chain-of-Lakes campsites at Locator, War Club, Quill, and Loiten lakes.
Melita Rosenthal and Mary Rosenthal will represent Koochiching County at the State Horse Show Sept. 15-18.
