Owen Wherley scores, helping his team, “Bikini Bottom Ballers” become runner-up champions in the Mens Division last Saturday at the 2022 International Falls Bass Championship. Members of the team are Owen Wherley, Gage Wherley, Dakota Hoppe and Nathan Kennedy.

Bronco football: Early wins important

I Falls competes in the rugged, seven-team Northeast Blue football conference. Traditional conference big dogs include Moose Lake-Willow River and Mesabi East. Less heralds Crosby-Ironton, Greenway/Nashwauk-Keewatin, Hinckley-Finlayson and Rush City are usually competitive, albeit not against the Big Two, and the Broncos hope to upset both Moose-Lake-Willow River and Mesabi East in back-to-back games.

The Bronco cross country teams opened their 2022 season with a 4-team meet in Baudette on Monday morning. For the girls, Abbi Hutchinson picked up right where she left off last year as she placed first in a time of 22:05. Abbi says it was a difficult course.

The International Falls volleyball participated in a scrimmage in Hibbing on Saturday, Aug. 20. Head Coach Sarah Peterson said that it went well and that the coaching staff got to look at a number of girls in a variety of roles as there will be new girls in the mix this season.

FHS swimming: Ready to go

I Falls swimming and diving coach Jennifer McBride couldn’t be more excited to begin the 2022 season. “Ashley Mitchell, a 2004 Falls graduate who was on our swim team for six years, is a new assistant and doing a great job,” McBride said on Monday morning.
