The International Falls track and field teams competed at University of Wisconsin Superior on Saturday, April 2, in an indoor meet. For the Bronco boys, it was their first competition of the season and individually, Anthony Scholler placed fifth in the 800 meter run while Wyatt Jantzen took seventh in the 60 meter hurdles.
Two local men recently competed in the Grappling Industries Minnesota martial arts competition. Ryan Stenson, 23, and Keith Magler, 24, both of International Falls, competed in the Grappling Industries Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and submission-wrestling tournament in Hopkin March 26.
Rainy River Community College’s freshman pitcher Juan Alcoverde earned the Minnesota College Athletic Conference’s baseball athlete-of-the-week for March 28 - April 3. Alcoverde earned two wins, tossing 14 innings and only giving up 5 runs and striking out 17 last week.
