The Rainy River Voyageurs volleyball team suffered a couple of tough losses on Saturday in Mesabi while playing a couple of non-conference opponents.Game 1 against Lake Region State was a 0-3 loss as the Voyageurs would go down 12-25, 16-25, and 22-25.
The Bronco volleyball team Friday hosted the rematch of the Border Battle against Littlefork-Big Falls Vikings and the Vikings got the win in three sets 25-20, 25-20, 25-22.The Vikings were led from behind the line by Miley Davis, KamBree and KoDee Gustafson, and Anissa Wimmer in serving with an ace for each of them.
In Littlefork, the Vikings 9-man football team was back on the winning side with a 34-24 victory over Hill City/Northland Storm.The Vikings shed first blood after Anthony Boorman ran in for a touchdown, followed by catching the receiving touchdown from Jax Sullivan on the 2-pt conversion putting the Vikings up 8-0 in the first.Four minutes later, AJ Knaeble ran it in from 20 yards to extend the lead to 14-0, and the lead would grow even more halfway through the second quarter after a Jax Sullivan touchdown puts them up 20-0.Hill City/Northland finally got on the board early into the third making it 20-8, but that would be met with an AJ Knaeble touchdown and 2-pt conversion.The Storm tried to answer with another touchdown making the score 28-16, but this time would be met with an Emet Erickson touchdown to keep the game out of reach with a final score of 34-24.The Vikings now prepare for a road game Friday, Oct.
