James Allan Kazmer

James Allan Kazmer, 86, of Kabetogama, Minnesota, died Monday, January 3, 2022 at the Cook Care Ceneter.

James was born February 3, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois to Walter and Lydia Kazmer.

He spent his entire life in Illinois until his retirement in 1996 and making his residence at his beloved Lake Kabetogama. He served in the United States Army from 1960-1964. He married Gloria Jean Kapitan in 1965 and they were married for 52 years until her death in 2017.

James was a lithographer and had many hobbies and interests. In his younger days he loved to fish, play cards, bowl, and always enjoyed a good meal and time spent by the lake. He also loved dogs. His faith in God and the  Blessed Mother was his foundation. The greatest joys of his life were his three grandsons Matthew, Ryan, and Mikel Tomczak. Spending time with his grandsons made Grandpa “Kaz” a very happy and proud man.

He is survived by his one daughter, Mary (Jay) Tomczak; three grandsons, Matthew (Rachel), Ryan, and Mikel Tomczak; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be held Friday, January 7, 2022 at 11:00am at St. Columban Church in Littlefork, MN. A visitation will begin at 10:00am with the Holy Rosary to be said at 10:30am. Military rites will be presented after the Mass at St. Columban Church.

Interment will be at Kabetogama Cemetery following the Mass. A luncheon will be served at the Kabetogama “Town” Hall after the interment.

Jim greatly appreciated the gentle care, kindness, and compassion he received at the Cook Care Center.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Columban Church or St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School in International Falls, MN in his memory.
