Joanne (Jody) Consetta Marie Chovan, 92, of International Falls, Minnesota, died on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at the Rainy Lake Medical Center.
Jody was born July 9, 1929 in Buhl, Minnesota to Martin and Katie Zallar.
She graduated from Orr High School in 1947 and moved to International Falls where she got her LPN certification and started her career at the Craig Hospital. It was while working at Falls Memorial Hospital, she met the love of her life, John H. Chovan. He was her favorite patient she ever had. They married October 8, 1949. She worked for several local doctors and spent over 25 years working for Dr. Marc Gorden at Falls Medical Center. She retired in 1992.
Jody loved traveling (Hawaii was her favorite), gardening, eating out with friends and family, shopping, and taking care of her family. She always had a smile on her face and a kind word for everybody. She was sincerely, a wonderful person.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Chovan; brothers, Richard, Mickey, and Butch Zallar; son-in-law, Rod White; and granddaughter, Marsha Halverson.
Jody is survived by her daughters, Linda White and Lori (Slugger) Foss; grandsons, Derek John Foss (Ashley), Chris White (Diane); great-grandchildren, Brody Foss, Erik, Tyler, Chloe, Seth, and Nick White, and Tessa Halverson; and sister, Kathy Zallar.
There will be a memorial service at Zion Lutheran Church in International Falls on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at 11:00am. Covid guidelines will be in place.
Interment will be at a later date in the spring.
