Roger Allen Johnson

Roger Allen Johnson, 77, of International Falls, Minnesota, died on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at Essentia Health – St. Mary’s Medical Center, Duluth, MN.

Roger was born July 15, 1944 to Edward and Maxine Johnson in Littlefork, Minnesota. He was one of ten children and lived his early childhood there. He lost both his parents by the time he was 12 years old.

Roger and Darlene met as teenagers at a party and married on August 8, 1975. They had two daughters together and spent 47 years of marriage together.

He loved to spend time with all of his family and enjoyed his annual deer hunting trips. He loved camping and fishing with his family. He loved working with his hands, always fixing or making something.

Roger developed major health problems with C.O.P.D. but no matter his circumstances he persevered and always was happy to be with his family. He was so strong and his disease was so relentless, but he never gave up and he fought this ugly disease as long as he could.

He loved his wife, daughters, and grandchildren with his whole heart and was so amazing as a grandfather (Pops). Roger was a beautiful soul, and he touched everyone he met with his out-going personality.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Maxine; brothers, Dwight Johnson and Marvin Johnson; sisters, (infant) Carol Johnson, Joyce Rogers, Dorothy O’Leary, Susan Johnson, and Ruth Vacura.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene Johnson; daughters, Teresa Johnson of Hibbing, Minnesota and Rachel (Dana) Gellately of Bemidji, Minnesota; brother, Lloyd (Julie) Johnson of Boring, Oregon; sisters, Bonnie Roslee of International Falls and Julie (Wallace) McGuire of Littlefork; grandchildren, Allisa Johnson, Casey Johnson, Grant Gellately, Ethan Gellately, and Nolan Gellately; numerous nieces and nephews; and their beloved dog, Maizy.
