Elizabeth “Betty” Joanne Staples, 71

On Saturday, June 4, 2022, Betty went to be with her heavenly family. Betty will be missed by all of us left here.

Betty was born on June 26, 1950 in International Falls, MN. She graduated from Falls High School in 1968. When she was young, she worked at Sha Sha Resort and in later years at Rainy Lake One Stop and ICO.

Betty enjoyed her retirement as it gave her more time to be with friends and family. She loved hosting family gatherings at her and Jim’s home. One of her greatest enjoyments was going to her son’s and just chilling by the fire.

Betty was a darn good ball player; she also got much pleasure snowmobiling, fishing, bingo and took great delight in beating someone at cribbage.

Betty married Jim Staples on December 6, 1997 who survives her. Also surviving is her son, Chad Dueck and partner Kim. Her grandson, Brett Dueck along with four great-grandchildren.

Betty is also survived by her sister, Wanda (Al) Linder, sister, LuAnne Caul and brother, Marvin “Butch” (Eileen) Arnold. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great nieces/nephews and great greats that will remember her always.

Betty was preceded in death by her first husband, Ken Dueck; her parents, Lewis “Bud” and Gladyce Arnold; in-laws, Dick and Maudy Staples; brothers, Ivan Arnold and Steve Arnold and nephew, Brian Arnold.

Betty will be forever missed by all.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at 4:00 pm at Green-Larsen Mortuary.

Memorials would be preferred to the Koochiching County Flood Relief Fund in lieu of flowers.
