Gerald Forsythe, 94, passed away at Rainy Lake Medical Center on Wednesday, September 7, 2023.
Gerald was bom on February 25, 1928. He was the youngest boy in a family of 6 boys and 6 girls. He resided his entire life in International Falls, except for his service in the U.S. Army when he was in Korea He was united in marriage to his loving wife, Rita Forsythe of nearly 74 years in December, 1948.
Gerald was employed by the railroad at the age of 16 and then Mando/Boise Cascade as a stationary engineer for 40 years. Gerald enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He had a real passion for blueberry picking, which he was still doing at the age of 90. He and Rita attended the Evangelical Covenant Church most of their married years.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents Mary and David Forsythe, 10 of his siblings, Norman, Ivan, Helen, Viola, Harold, Roy, Gladys, Irene, Eunice, and Muriel, and his grandson Jason Sanden.
Surviving Gerald are his wife Rita, daughter Susan Sanden and husband Merlin, son Brad Forsythe and wife Debi, grandson Jeff Sanden and wife Kaysi, daughter-in-law Carla Sanden, 4 great grandchildren of whom he was so proud, Carter Sanden, John Sanden, Lauren Sanden, and Elizabeth Sanden, and his brother Freeman Forsythe.
