Larry Eugene Aasen

January 25, 1953 – November 12, 2022 It’s with deep sadness that we announce the death of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother, passing at home in the arms of his family after a heroic 3 year battle with cancer.

Larry was born in Roseau Minnesota on January 25th, 1953 to Albert and Hazel Aasen. When he was 3 the family moved to International Falls where he went to school. After graduating from high school in 1971, Larry went on to Technical College in Bemidji where he studied drafting, eventually leading to his career in engineering at the papermill in International Falls. He retired from his role as construction supervisor in 2015, having earned great respect from all who worked with him.

Larry married the love of his life, Dawn Tillman, in 1979 and they made a beautiful life together for 44 years. His two greatest loves were his family and the outdoors with all its activities. Nothing brought him greater joy than combining both with his beloved dogs by his side. Taking pictures of these events was important to him and he’s left us with many memories to cherish. Larry was also a passionate observer of nature and natural sciences and imparted much wisdom to those around him in his patient and thoughtful way.

He was preceded in death by his father Albert and mother-in-law Rose Tillman.

Larry is survived by his wife Dawn, son James (Brittney), granddaughter Keirra, mother Hazel, and sister Marlys, sister-in-law Jackie Tillman of Grand Rapids Minnesota, brother-in-law Vern Tillman (Margie) of Moses Lake Washington, and two nieces, Lisa Kroese and Paula Lentini of Seattle Washington.

A Celebration of Life will be planned for summer 2023. Condolences may be left on www.greenlarsen.com Arrangements are with Green-Larsen Mortuary, Inc.
