William James Roeder

William James Roeder,” Billy”, age 80, passed away on December 9th, 2022. He was born on June 1st, 1942, in International Falls to George and Nettie Roeder. Billy was a lifelong resident of the Falls. Billy’s work life began as a newsp aper delivery boy delivering across the border to Fort Frances, where he became smitten with the love of his life, Margaret Jewett. He was an apprentice to Tony Rizzo at his shoe repair shop where he continued to work for years. Billy graduated from Falls High School in 1961 and began working for Boise Cascade that same year, he retired in 2004. In retirement Billy enjoyed golfing, following his grandchildren at all their sporting events and spending time solving all the local and world problems with his coffee buddies at Hardees.

On June 29th, 1963, Billy married Margaret Jewett and had a beautiful life together raising their three children. You could always count on Billy to give a hand, whether it was collecting donations for the World Bantam Hockey Tournament or delivering meals for the Elks. If you asked, he answered and if he knew you were doing a project, he would just show up ready to work.

Billy is survived by his wife Margie of 59 years, children, Barbara, Robert (Becky) & Teresa (Dan) Wimmer. Grandchildren, Maclaine, Jordan (Mark), James, Rachel, Evan, Eric and Maggie, Great grandchildren Riley, Ivy, and Reed. Sister Nettie and many nieces and nephews.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, George and Nettie Roeder, in-laws Ivan and Ruth Jewett, sister Charlotte Ruelle and brother Chuckie Roeder.

A memorial service will be conducted at the Mark Jerstad Fellowship Hall-Good Samaritan Society on Friday, December 16, 2022 at 12:30 p.m.

The family would prefer donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or Macular Degeneration Association in Billy’s name in lieu of flowers.
