Frozen lake plan up for comment

STAFF REPORT

A plan that will guide use of the ice-covered lakes in Voyageurs National Park will be available for review and comment in June.

In addition, the plan is the focus of two in-person workshops in International Falls June 12, and Kabetogama June 13, and a virtual meeting June 10.

The National Park Service is providing early notification for the public scoping period for park’s Frozen Lake Use Plan, on which “the NPS requests your feedback on preliminary alternatives that will be further refined and analyzed in an Environmental Assessment,” park official said in a news statement.

The 30-day public scoping period for the Frozen Lake Use Plan starts May 28 and ends June 28. The 30-day public scoping period initiates the National Environmental Policy Act, or NEPA, process.

All project related documents are available on the NPS’s Planning, Environment, and Public Comment (PEPC) page, https://parkplanning.nps.gov/VOYA-frozen.
