Construction has begun on the landside portion of the Ranier pier project at the end of Spruce Street. Underground utilities are being stubbed in for the pier. The pier itself is in the permitting process with United States Army Corp of Engineers and Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. Ranier city officials say they hope the project will be let out for bid over the winter for construction to begin in 2025. There is not a set timeline as of yet.MARY FRIENDT PHOTO
